These highly fragrant bulb flowers were always traditionally grown in the bulb district. They then express a wish that the weather conditions will be favourable and that the bulbs will flower at just the right time. Each year it is always touch and go. The hyacinth plays a key role with is fragrance enticing visitors from home and abroad. The structure of the flower is also ideal for the fine decorations on the floats. Hundreds of volunteers strip the individual flowers from the stems. When a good pile of one colour is available the staking begins.
