Winners Photo contest Bloemencorso Bollenstreek
The winners have been announced! The photography competition was launched in April as part of the substitute events for the annual parade. Participation was possible in four categories and over 180 entries were received. Each category was judged by a expert jury finally producing four stunning photographs and four winners.: Gieny Westra (category (Semi)Professionals); Hanneke van Rij (Social Influencers); Melanie Cederhout (Category Youth) en Gerard Out (Category History). The four winning photos will be part of next year’s exhibition “75 years Bloemencorso Bollenstreek”. Each winner will also receive a prize and the winning photographs will be extensively published in the local press and online media.
Category 1. (Semi) Proessionals - winner Gieny Westra.
Assignment : Are you a semi professional photographer and do you want to measure your talents against others. Accept the challenge and show your creativity. Can you produce the ultimate feeling of spring and portrait the bulbs in combination with man or nature? Maybe you have an image shot a few years ago. All is possible.
Prize: : printed onto canvas (40/60 cm) and the winning photo will be a part of the exhibition "75 years Bloemencorso Bollenstreek''.
Juryrapport: De bollenstreek gezien door een glazen bol. Wie kent de toekomst en waar gaat het heen. Het contrast in de tegenovergestelde wereld in de bol sprak jury erg aan. Een creatieve invalshoek met de vrolijke kleuren combi geel en rood in een minder vrolijke tijd van Corona. Een lente gevoel. Maar ook is het klassieke van de bollenvelden anders in beeld gebracht.
Category 2. social influencers – winner: Hanneke van Rij
Assignment : How do your followers react to your media post where the feeling of spring jumps out at you? Show with likes and comments that you are a real winner in this category. Use content where spring is celebrated in many possible ways with bulbs as the main theme.
Prize: : INSTAX mini camera + 10 photos and the winning photo will be part of the exhibition "75 years Bloemencorso Bollenstreek"
: Choosing from so many good entries was not easy, but in the end I had my winner. I chose the photo from Hanneke where light and colour go hand in hand. The photo shows the dark sky which we saw more often this spring, together with the red tulips. This captures in one image the area with its diversity of the seasons.
Categorie 3. jeugd (tm 14 jaar) – Winnares: Melanie Cederhout
Assignment Met de komst van digitale camera’s en smartphones heeft het fotograferen er een nieuwe dimensie bij gekregen. Wat houdt je tegen om je mooiste bloemenfoto’s van tulpen, hyacinten, narcissen of andere voorjaarsbloemen deze keer eens niet in je groepsapp of met je klasgenoten te delen maar met Bloemencorso Bollentreek? En je kunt er nog een leuke prijs mee winnen ook.
Prize: Clipp on zoomlens voor mobiele telefoon en de winnende foto maakt deel uit van de tentoonstelling 75 jaar Bloemencorso Bollenstreek in 2022.
Juryrapport: De winnende foto in de categorie Jeugd (tm 14 jaar) is een mooie en typische corsofoto. In de lucht zie je het zonnetje lekker schijnen, op de achtergrond een mooie kleurrijke corsowagen. En op de voorgrond een stralende Melanie die geniet van het mooie weer en prachtige corsowagen. Gefeliciteerd Melanie!
Category 4. History (prior to 2000) – winner: Gerard Out
Assignment Wie komt er voor de dag met de allermooiste foto uit het corsoverleden? Volgend jaar bestaat Bloemencorso Bollenstreek 75 jaar. Er moeten nog heel wat vergeten corsofoto’s op zolder liggen in een schoenendoos. Stuur ze in die unieke corsofoto’s van bijzondere corsomomenten, (praal)wagens en belevenissen tijdens de optocht. Zwart-wit, kleur of ingekleurd maakt niet uit.
Prize: Boeken De Schilders van de Duin- en Bollenstreek én Bloemencorso Bollenstreek van Herman van Amsterdam en de winnende foto maakt deel uit van de tentoonstelling 75 jaar Bloemencorso Bollenstreek in 2022.
Juryrapport: : The winning photo in the Category History/Archive shows more than just a highly decorated float. Even though the image is not sharp it gives away many clues about the time period in which it was taken. On the right you can see a figure with a large white cap. This was part of a policeman's uniform in the 1950s. The public is lined up neatly behind him with no need for any barriers. The NS logo on the float was used between 1946 and 1962 and the text NEEM DE TREIN (Take the train) shows how the news of the day 50 years ago was the source of inspiration for the floral decorations. In a period when cars and busses were becoming more popular this was a call to keep travelling by train. The text on the windows was painted by hand and you can see an old Kodak sign. The timing of the photo is also impressive. Someone is leaning out of a train window on the float in the same way that the people in the house behind are leaing out to follow the parade. Does anyone know which street this is? Let us know!

Terry Hesseling
Terry has been involved with the parade for many years. Starting in the team of decorators he then became one of the actors and a member of the entertainment team. Terry has been a member of the Communication Committee since 2019 where he is jointly responsible for Social Media. Outside of his work as a volunteer, Terry is Teaching Assistant by Auris de Weerklank special school in Leiden.
Eva van der Kwast
Ik ben een organisator en creator. Ik creëer ruimte voor ondernemers zodat zij kunnen doen waar hun passie ligt. Dit doe ik door content te creëren en mijn innerlijke planner los te laten, vanuit mijn bedrijf Communikeet. Ik ben een eventmanager en communicatiesupporter. Van persberichten tot nieuwsbrieven en van folder teksten tot sociale media content. En dat is precies wat ik doe bij het Bloemencorso Bollenstreek: content creeeren met Terry en Sally zodat de wereld ziet hoe mooi, kleurrijk, gezellig en bijzonder ons jaarlijkse corso is! Ik hoop van harte dat we in 2022 weer mogen rijden en ik mijn eerste corso als vrijwilliger kan meemaken! Let’s color the world together!‘

Rudi Tuinman en Pascal Koeleman van 2Dezign are a phenomenon in the floricultural sector with their photography, trade fairs, showrooms, pubications, marketing and promotion. They have an extensive portfolio ranging from small businesses to large multinationals and ensure that the use of marketing tools is pushed to the limit through the use of creative design making them dynamic and interesting.
Jury member Celina Yavelow
Celina works in the department for image and audiovisual collections at the North Holland archives. From maps to prints, from photos to films, the collection includes everything which represents the province of North Holland and its occupants. New material is assessed by Celina and her colleagues for uniqueness and historical value. Does it show an important place or happening? Celina has used these criteria to judge the winning entry.
