Lisse attends the file past for Sinterklaas with a decorated float.
Lisse was one of the 30 towns and villages chosen to file past Sinterklaas in Soestdijk palace. Lisse of course choose a decorated float for this important occasion.
National television approached 30 Dutch towns and villages to take part in a file past for Sinterklaas in Soestdijk Palace. This event was inspired by the file pasts for Queen Juliana on her birthday.
Mayor Lies Spruit of Lisse immediate decided that a float from the parade would be the ideal mode of transport and she approached to organisers of the parade. They were able to recommend the use of the mobile hearts which have thriftily already been used already on a number of locations. Spring flowers were of course not available in November, but some late flowering dahlias were found as decoration.
Construction was carried out at Deleeuw Flowerbulb Group Sassenheim and the flowers were staked by the Lisse Scouting group. Flower arrangements were supplied by students at the Yuverta collage in Oegstgeest. Van der Slot Tulips in Lisse managed to bring on a bunch of Tulips in Red and Yellow, the colours connected with Sinterklaas so there were sufficient for a large bunch as a birthday gift. Van Dooren meanwhile organised the transport.
Mayor Lies Spruit filed past the holy man and his entourage with a small group of volunteers, a colourful float and a number of local children as number 25 out of the 30 participating towns. She was delighted to point out just how many volunteers had been involved in bringing such a colour tribute to Sinterklaas during his stay in The Netherlands.
